Contemporary Timber Staircase, Gloucestershire

A contemporary timber staircase makes the most of the light and space.

The clients called us in after their builder made them a trial staircase framework. It soon became apparent this was not going to be a suitable solution to getting a new staircase shape and layout agreed.

Our design arranges the layout to make the most of walking space and light. The lightweight steel stair is clad with Douglas Fir. Plastered soffits sit between stringers and make for a smooth underside.

A low iron glass balustrade lets in maximum light, framed by a leather handrail. This sits directly onto the glass without visible fixings.
