Art Nouveau Inspired Staircase, Berkshire
Steel staircase with an art nouveau inspired balustrade.
Project ID: 4603
Art nouveau inspired balustrades were part of the brief when our clients asked us to design a staircase for their new build home.
Our clients asked for a flowing, sinuous design through the triple height space. The architect defined the space before contacting us, so our challenge was achieving the look they wanted in a less than ideal space.
The staircase itself sits on white painted, slim steel stringers. The balustrade is of aged bronze, whilst the handrail is of walnut, polished to a high sheen.
We stained oak treads with a dark stain to match the flooring in the rest of the house. Samples of the stained timber were sent to the clients for approval before we started the build.
What Our Client Had To Say
The staircase, all be it in its raw metal state, looks truly amazing! I walked up and down it for the first time yesterday and it felt just great. I loved the feeling of the stairs from ground floor up to mezz, does it make sense when I say it felt a lovely movement up and onto the mezz. A neighbour recently said of our house it’s been ugly but it’s now like a butterfly emerging. I think the stairs are the same.
