Staircase Planning – Our Project Process
Staircase planning at Bisca involves a meticulous project process which sees each staircase commission being built three times.
Planning your staircase starts first of all with seeing it in a virtual 3D space within our design studio. Secondly, you will receive photos and can visit in person to watch our team handcraft and manufacture it in our workshop; and finally, it will become a reality during installation within your property.
By taking this tried and tested approach, Bisca can offer you complete assurance that your finished commission will be flawless and will withstand the closest inspection.
Follow Our 5-Step Staircase Planning Process
Below we have summarised our staircase planning process. At Bisca, we will always seek client feedback at the end of each stage, gaining approval before progressing to the next phase. Only when you are 100% happy does the project move forwards…
Stage 1 – Free Guide Price & Design Consultation
Based on drawings, sketches, photographs or previous commissions, we will be able to give you a guide price for your project. One of our experienced team will the take time to discuss your requirements and options – including both the function, size and aesthetics that you’re looking to achieve from your new staircase. Stage 2 – Concept Design
The second stage is when you will see your staircase ideas first start to come to life. Bisca will study the space it is going to be designed for, listen to your preferences, and carry out a survey of your property if appropriate. Your concept design will be presented by one of our design engineers and includes 3D visualisation; a written specification and project scope; a budget estimate; and schematic plans. Stage 3 – Detailed Staircase Design
Once concept designs are approved and you have commissioned Bisca to create your staircase, we will start the detailed modelling, whilst working closely with your site team to ensure the stair and its building interface together perfectly. Updated CAD renders will be provided for your visual approval.
Upon confirmation that you are happy with the visual design, the final technical detailing for manufacture can commence. During all design stages the craftsperson responsible for your staircase’s manufacture and installation will be involved, working in partnership with your project design engineer to ensure an efficient and safe build. At the end of this stage, and once the final survey has been obtained, we will present your Project Specification which will include CAD visuals, general arrangement drawings, site instructions and site sequencing. Stage 4 – Staircase Manufacture
Upon approval of the designs, we will source the materials you have selected for your staircase from our trusted suppliers. We will then brief the team responsible for crafting your bespoke staircase in our workshop. Once the materials arrive and have passed our rigorous quality assurance process, our workshop will begin handcrafting and manufacturing each staircase, building your commission in its true form. Seeing your staircase take shape is an impressive part of this process and we invite all clients to visit our workshop to view its progression. Alternatively, we are happy to send photos and meet virtually to keep you informed of progress. Here’s a bit more about our craftspeople and what takes place in our workshop…
Stage 5 – Staircase Installation
We will agree a schedule for installation with you. The workshop team will be fully briefed by your designer to ensure disruption is minimised and the installation sequencing is accurate and can be delivered with absolute precision. We complete a detailed risk assessment and method statement, which ensures professional transportation and installation when the team arrives.
For you to experience the Bisca difference, we only allow Bisca’s people to install your staircase. The same craftsmen who worked alongside your designers, and who have built your staircase piece by piece in our workshop, will carry out the installation. We set high expectations of ourselves and as a result, we’re only happy if you are. Here’s what clients have to say about our team and the service they provide….
