"This project won the York Lord Mayors Award last year-overall winner and was also winner of the best house in York for Bramhall Blenkharn Architects. In terms of Biscas work there, the stairs in both spaces are the centrepiece of the interiors. In particular the main stair is a triumph of design and engineering to provide a spectacular space in the centre of the house. It is widely admired I know, by both client and all those who have visited the property. The stair and bridge in the small barn are elegantly detailed with tactile handrails and totally in keeping with the character of the old structure-yet adding modernity through the glass bridge, which allows light to flood through the central double height space. Working with Bisca, as ever, is a joy."
